We’ve only known Kaity for less than 24 hours and as far as we can tell, she is pretty much perfect. She is a 5 year old setter cross who is happy to be around other dogs and does not bother with the cats. She is quite comfortable just laying on a dog bed watching the world go by. She is not super cuddly but does like to sit next to you and get ear scritches.
She rides great in a vehicle and is not stressed at all, even during long trips. She has even been left alone in the car for short periods of time and just slept on the seat while waiting for her foster parents to return.
Kaity is nice and mellow in the house but is ready to go for a walk outside at the drop of a hat. She’ll be able to keep up with anyone who enjoys long strolls in the park or even short hikes in the mountains. At the same time, she’d be equally content for short walks around the neighborhood and fun and games at the park. She is definitely a “bird” dog and is constantly on the look-out for things passing by but she is content to just watch, not bark.
If you’d like to find out a little more about Setters and their general temperament check out what Wikipedia has to say. From there you can follow a link to the English Setter which is what we think she is probably crossed with.
Hi! We adopted Kaity 2 1/2 years ago and she is such a doll. She truly is a Daddy’s girl and a strong relationship with Chris as he takes her to work every day. When Kaity first came to us she was a little reserved and it took a while for her to let her true colors show. I laughed today when I read in the orginal windy city blog that she isnt one for cuddling. She is such a suck!! Her favorite cuddle time is when Dad is out of town and she can sleep in the bed with Mom (dont tell Dad!).
We are forever thankful that she was rescued from a kill shelter in Great Falls and that she is a part of out family.
Many thanks for all your hard work!
